RIO PACIFIC GAZETTE – About Us

Welcome to the Rio Pacific Gazette website, your source for everything high school sports.
My name is Lorenzo Antonio, and I have had a passion for sports from a very young age. In fact, when I was just three days old, my mom placed the sports section of the Los Angeles Times in my hands.

The photo has become a treasured family memory and, in many ways, symbolizes the beginning of a lifelong journey. While no one could have predicted it at the time, that simple moment would spark my love for sports and eventually lead me to pursue a career in sports journalism. Today, that photograph serves as a reminder that some passions begin earlier than we ever imagine.
I am a proud native of Burbank, California. Growing up, I attended Thomas Jefferson Elementary School, John Muir Middle School, and later graduated from Burbank High School.

I was diagnosed with Autism at a young age, but that has never stopped me from pursuing my dreams. Instead, it has motivated me to work even harder toward my goal of becoming a sports journalist. I attended Woodbury University, where I majored in Interdisciplinary Studies and minored in Professional Writing, graduating with Cum Laude Honors.

For the past three years, I worked as a sports reporter for Valley Sports Telegram, covering local high school athletics and community sports stories. That experience helped me develop my reporting, interviewing, and storytelling skills, and I am excited to carry those experiences forward in my new role as Founder and Managing Editor of Rio Pacific Gazette.

Sports have always been a major part of my life. As a student-athlete, I ran Cross Country & Track for Burbank High School and recorded a personal-best mile time of just under five minutes in my senior year running track. Whether it is following high school athletics, professional sports, or attending games in person, I love sharing stories that bring the communities together and celebrate the dedication, hard work, and achievements of the student-athletes. I look forward to reporting on all the sports news and events involving Burbank and Burroughs High Schools and over time, expanding our coverage to all 16 schools that compete in the Rio Pacific Conference. My goal is to provide student-athletes, coaches, athletic directors families, school administrators and fans with meaningful coverage that recognizes their hard work, achievements, and contributions to their school communities.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, watching professional sports, attending Dodgers games at Dodger Stadium, going to the movies, playing video games, taking walks, and exploring great restaurants. Some of my favorites include In-N-Out Burger and, of course, pizza.

Through the Rio Pacific Gazette, I hope to highlight the achievements, hard work, and inspiring stories of high school athletes, coaches, and communities throughout California and beyond. I also hope to demonstrate that individuals with Autism can pursue their dreams, overcome challenges, and make meaningful contributions to their communities.

Thank you for visiting the Rio Pacific Gazette. I am excited to write and bring these stories to you.
