The former Burbank High Coach and Co Athletic Director will oversee the newly revamped Rio Pacific Conference
Pactrick McMenamin has been appointed to serve as the Rio Pacific Commissioner for the 2026-2027 school year. McMenamin will oversee the entire 16 teams in the Rio Pacific Conference as he returns to high school sports after a three year break from the action. The Rio Pacific Leagues will have three different leagues which consist of the Arroyo, Crest and Boulder Leagues which will make up the three divisions.
Currently McMenamin serves as Math teacher at Burbank High School a role he served since 2008 will enter his 19th year in that role. While in athletics at Burbank High School McMenamin served as assistant football and soccer coach along with overseeing the boys volleyball program. When McMenamin served as co athletic director at Burbank High School from 2015-2023, he worked alongside Bruce Breeden and Alli McKain during that span.
McMenamin currently has two daughters that attend John Burroughs High School and are part of their athletic programs. Alexandria, currently a junior at Burroughs, is the team manager for the girls soccer team and is currently on varsity track. Ashley who will be an incoming freshman at Burroughs will be part of the flag football, soccer and track teams at Burroughs.
“I am very excited to be involved in high school sports again. Sports played a big role in my life growing up. It’s playing a role in my kids’ lives now. So I continue to feel the need to give back. When this opportunity came up, it felt like a good fit.” said the newly named Rio Pacific Commissioner. McMenamin also added that this change will prevent a large number of blowout scores and also increased opportunities for the bottom tier teams to compete for the CIF Southern Section Playoffs.
The 2026-2027 High School Sports season kicks off on August 8th which will be the start of the girls volleyball season.
